This New High School is 285,000 SF, with a student capacity of 1600 students with core spaces designed for 1920 students. The design includes the concept of smaller leaning Communities within interdisciplinary instructional areas within the building. Designed as a high performance school building, this facility is healthy and productive for the students and teachers. The building provides high levels of thermal and visual comfort, including large amounts of natural daylight, superior indoor air quality, and a safe & secure environment for its occupants. It is sustainable because it integrates energy conservation, high performance mechanical and lighting systems, environmentally responsive site planning, environmentally preferable materials, and water efficient design. A high performance school building has at least seven key benefits: better student performance, increased daily attendance, increased teacher satisfaction and retention, reduced operating costs, reduced liability exposure, a positive influence on the environment and increased opportunities for using the school facility itself as a teaching too. This building demonstrates all those features. Project cost 71 million.
